Devizes RFC is deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Lawrence Bruce.  Lawrence was a player for the junior sides and worked his way up through the age groups at Devizes RFC. His father Steve is regularly seen up at the club and sons George and Oscar have also played through the age groups and made appearances for the senior sides.

Chris Hiscock, a close friend of the family and one of Lawrence's rugby coaches said, "Lawrence was in no way the biggest or the best player on the pitch, but his commitment and love of the game and his team mates was second to none.  He would always be the first guy to put his hand up to play out of position and make sure we could play our game and the first guy to put his arm around a team mate and ask if they were ok.  Off the field Lawrence was the life and soul of the team; when he wasn’t flipping and doing summersaults, he would be planning his next prank or joke,  Win lose or draw he always had a smile on his face and made sure he did his utmost to make sure everyone else left with a smile and tears of laughter. He was that loveable cheeky chap. Once again Lawrence leaves us all with a tears in our eyes."

Club President, Chris Jones said, "Lawrence was the youngest son of Steve and Bridget, brother to George and Oscar.  There are no words to express the sadness of losing someone so young with so much to look forward to. We are here as a club to support the family and friends of Lawrence in any way we can."

All at Devizes RFC send our condolences to the Bruce family at this incredibly sad time.
